Yesterday marked the beginning of the inspection visit by the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR) to the city of Mar del Plata, which is interested in hosting the 2027 South American Beach Games. The delegation was welcomed at the Municipal Office of Culture and Tourism by Mario Moccia and Sergio Groupierre, President and Secretary General of the Argentine Olympic Committee, alongside local authorities.
Leading the inspection commission was Fernando Ucha, President of the Uruguayan Olympic Committee and of the evaluation commission, accompanied by Milka Kraljev, Member of the ODESUR Athletes’ Commission; Mario Cilenti, Executive Director; Fabio Ramírez, Technical and Development Director; and Bruno Sapienza, Head of International Relations and Strategic Communication. During the meeting, a detailed presentation was given showcasing Mar del Plata’s capabilities and resources as a potential host city, highlighting its infrastructure, experience in organizing international events, and its touristic appeal.
After the presentation, the team visited Bristol and Bahía Varese beaches to assess the technical and infrastructure requirements necessary for hosting the sporting competitions.
Today, the day began with visits to the Mar del Plata Yacht Club and the Naval Base, where further analysis was conducted on the facilities and their ability to host the various disciplines that could be part of the South American Beach Games.
The visit concluded with a press conference at the Municipal Office of Culture and Tourism, attended by prominent local and national authorities. During the conference, the significance of such events for the region’s sporting, economic, and tourism development was emphasized, reaffirming Mar del Plata’s commitment to the values of sports and sustainability.
