Today, in Panama City, the National Safe Sport Certification – Basic Level and the Project Presentation Day took place, an important event organized by the Panama Olympic Committee with the support of the South American Sports Organization (ODESUR). This event marks a milestone in strengthening safe sport in the region, seeking to ensure safer and more appropriate environments for all athletes and participants in the sports sector.
The event was graced by the distinguished presence of leaders from the Olympic Movement, such as Mr. Camilo Pérez López Moreira, Member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President of ODESUR, Mrs. Damaris Young, IOC Member and President of the Panama Olympic Committee, Mrs. Gloria Visceras, Project Director of the IOC’s Safe Sport Unit, Mr. Mario Cilenti, Executive Director of ODESUR, and Mrs. María Carla Sayavedra, Director of the Safe Sport Office of the Panama Olympic Committee, along with other members of the Evaluation Committee.
The day began at 8:00 AM, with presentations from 28 participants, who showcased their proposals on sports safety. We are proud to share that, thanks to ODESUR’s support, 10 of these participants successfully completed the certification. Among them are representatives from Argentina, Aruba, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Venezuela, and Uruguay, demonstrating the region’s commitment to creating safer and more secure sporting environments.
The event concluded at 5:30 PM with a certification ceremony recognizing all participants for their dedication and effort in implementing safe sport principles in their respective countries.
This event reinforces the commitment of ODESUR and the Panama Olympic Committee to promoting safe, inclusive, and accessible sport for all. We will continue working together to ensure that our sporting communities have the knowledge and resources needed to foster risk-free sports environments.
